Drupal 7 migration install#
With upgrades from Drupal 6 or 7, your theme (design template) will need significant modifications to work with a newer version of Drupal, so we recommend taking this opportunity to select, buy and install a brand new, modern and responsive design rather than trying to modify your current one. Drupal 10 is the latest and greatest version, and is the best way to go for standard informational and e-commerce websites, but some add-on modules you're currently using might not have Drupal 10 equivalents, so a migration may need some extra-careful planning.
Drupal 7 migration upgrade#
If you're running Drupal 8 or 9, you should upgrade your site as soon as possible because it is likely to develop security vulnerabilities as a result of the software no longer being updated. If you're running Drupal 7, you should consider an upgrade / migration now, as upgrades from Drupal 7 to 10 can be very challenging. If you're running Drupal 6, you need to upgrade your site immediately as your site is likely to have a number of security vulnerabilities. The potential security risk should be of significant concern to website owners and users but in any case it may well be time to move on from software launched many, many years ago. In turn, this is already the case for Drupal 8 and it will be the case for Drupal 7 from very early in 2025.

This means, for example, that there have been no more community-published software updates for Drupal 6 for around eight years, so security vulnerabilities and other issues won't be patched up unless you pay for a service which includes them being created and maintained. ^ Drupal 7 community support was reviewed in June 2023 and a final extension given to 5 January 2025. Once this has ended, paid-for 'extended support' is available for a further period.

Drupal 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10ĭrupal 10, the latest incarnation of one of the world's leading website development and content management systems, has arrived. Drupal 7 community support ends on 5 January 2025.
